Amex Platinum Lounge Access: Every Lounge You Can Walk Into in 2026
Amex Platinum lounge access is one of the biggest reasons travelers consider The Platinum Card from American Express. The card unlocks the American Express Global Lounge Collection, including Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select lounges after enrollment, Escape Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs when flying Delta, Plaza Premium Lounges, and select partner lounges.
The hard part is not knowing whether the card has lounge access. It does. The real question is which lounges you can actually enter, what the guest rules are, when you might be turned away, and whether the $895 annual fee makes sense for your airport habits.
What lounges can Amex Platinum get you into?
The Amex Platinum Card can get eligible cardholders into Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select lounges after enrollment, Escape Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs when flying Delta, Plaza Premium Lounges, Lufthansa Lounges through September 30, 2026, and other Global Lounge Collection partners.
The best value usually comes from Centurion Lounges, Escape Lounges, and Delta Sky Clubs if those lounges match your real airport routes.
Important Amex Platinum lounge changes for 2026
The Amex Platinum Card annual fee is now $895. The new fee applies to new applicants as of September 18, 2025, and to existing cardholders at renewal on or after January 2, 2026.
- Centurion Lounge guest rule change: Effective July 8, 2026, all Centurion Lounge guests must be traveling on the same flight as the Card Member.
- Centurion Lounge layover rule: Effective July 8, 2026, eligible Card Members must arrive within 5 hours of a connecting flight during a layover.
- Sidecar by Centurion Lounge at LAS: Eligible Platinum Card Members must enter within 90 minutes of the departure time shown on their same-day boarding pass.
- Lufthansa Lounge access ending: Platinum Card Members have access to Lufthansa Lounges through September 30, 2026. Effective October 1, 2026, this access ends.
- Delta Sky Club limit: Eligible Platinum Card Members receive 10 Delta Sky Club visits each Medallion Year unless they unlock unlimited access by spending $75,000 in eligible purchases in a calendar year.
What is Amex Platinum lounge access?
Amex Platinum lounge access is the airport lounge benefit attached to The Platinum Card from American Express. In 2026, American Express lists more than 1,550 airport lounges across 140 countries in the Global Lounge Collection.
The lounge network is broad, but the experience is not the same everywhere. Centurion Lounges are usually the most valuable part of the benefit. Priority Pass adds airport coverage, especially outside the United States. Delta Sky Club access helps when you fly Delta, but eligible Platinum Card Members receive 10 visits each Medallion Year unless they unlock unlimited Sky Club access through $75,000 in eligible purchases.
The Platinum Card is not a cheap lounge card. The annual fee is $895 in 2026. For the lounge access to make sense, you need to use the right lounges often enough, avoid guest fee surprises, and actually benefit from the card’s other travel credits.
Our call
Amex Platinum is the strongest lounge card for travelers who regularly use Centurion Lounges, fly Delta enough to use Sky Clubs, or travel internationally where Priority Pass and partner lounges are stronger.
Skip it as a lounge card if your home airport has no practical Centurion Lounge, weak Priority Pass options, and no regular Delta travel. In that case, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Capital One Venture X, or paid day passes may fit better.
When Amex Platinum lounge access makes sense
The Amex Platinum is best when its lounge network lines up with your actual airports, not just famous airport lounges you may never visit.
Centurion Lounge regulars
The card is strongest if you regularly fly through airports with Centurion Lounges, such as LAS, JFK, LAX, DFW, MIA, SEA, IAH, and PHX.
Delta flyers
Eligible Platinum Card Members receive Delta Sky Club access when flying Delta, with 10 visits each Medallion Year unless unlimited access is earned through eligible spending.
International travelers
Priority Pass, Plaza Premium, and partner lounge access can be more useful outside the United States, especially in airports where domestic U.S. lounge options feel thin.
Use this quick rule before applying.
Amex Platinum lounge access is likely worth it if at least three are true:
- You fly at least 6 times per year.
- Your home airport or common connection airport has a Centurion Lounge.
- You fly Delta enough to use several Sky Club visits.
- You travel internationally and value Priority Pass or Plaza Premium coverage.
- You usually travel solo, or you understand Centurion guest fees.
- You can use enough Amex credits to reduce the real cost of the $895 annual fee.
- You value better airport food, workspace, drinks, and seating before boarding.
When Amex Platinum lounge access is not worth it
Skip the card if your airport does not have a useful Centurion Lounge, you rarely fly Delta, and your Priority Pass options are weak or routinely crowded. A big lounge network does not help if the good lounges are not where you fly.
The card is also weaker for families who expected free Centurion Lounge guests. In 2026, paid Centurion guest access costs $50 for each adult guest and $30 for children ages 2 through 17 unless the cardholder qualifies for complimentary guest access.
If you fly only a few times per year, a lounge day pass may be cleaner than managing a $895 premium card. If you want simpler annual fee math, compare Capital One Venture X before applying.
Read the Lounge Day Pass GuideWhat I have seen at the Las Vegas Amex Lounge
Las Vegas is my home airport, so I judge lounge cards by whether they actually work at LAS. The Las Vegas Amex Lounge experience makes the value of the Platinum Card feel real when the lounge is close enough, not packed, and you have enough time before boarding to enjoy it.
The bigger lesson is simple: the card name matters less than the terminal, timing, and crowding. A lounge can look great on paper and still be useless if it is behind security in another terminal, packed during the evening departure bank, or too far from your gate to justify the walk.
What travelers usually like and dislike about Amex Platinum lounge access
Amex Platinum lounge access is strongest when the card gets you into a lounge that is close to your gate, not packed, and better than the terminal food options nearby. The gap between “great benefit” and “not worth the walk” usually comes down to airport, terminal, crowding, guest rules, and whether you are flying Delta that day.
- Centurion Lounge quality: Travelers usually value Centurion Lounges most for hot food, better drinks, cleaner seating, and a more premium feel than many standard contract lounges.
- Multiple lounge paths: The card is useful because it does not rely on one network. You can check Centurion, Escape, Delta Sky Club, Priority Pass, Plaza Premium, and other partner lounges.
- Delta usefulness: For Delta flyers, Sky Club access can be a major reason to keep the card, especially at airports where Delta has better lounge coverage than Priority Pass.
- International coverage: Priority Pass and Plaza Premium access can be more useful on international trips than on some domestic U.S. routes.
- Crowding: Popular Centurion Lounges can feel crowded during peak departure banks, and access is always subject to space availability.
- Guest fees: Families and couples can be surprised by Centurion Lounge guest fees if they expected the old free-guest experience.
- Delta visit limits: The 10-visit Delta Sky Club limit matters for travelers who fly Delta often but do not spend $75,000 on the card.
- Priority Pass inconsistency: Priority Pass can be excellent at some international airports and disappointing at U.S. airports with small lounges, limited hours, or access restrictions.
JetKonnect take: Amex Platinum is a premium airport card, but it is not automatically the best card for every traveler. It works best when Centurion, Delta, Escape, or partner lounge access fits the airports you actually use.
How to check Amex Platinum lounge access before your trip
Use this three-step check before you walk across the terminal.
Search the Amex lounge finder
Start with the American Express Global Lounge Collection search tool. Enter the airport code, then check the exact terminal, access method, hours, guest policy, and location notes.
Confirm the lounge type
A Centurion Lounge, Escape Lounge, Priority Pass lounge, Delta Sky Club, Plaza Premium Lounge, and Lufthansa Lounge all follow different rules. Do not assume one rule applies to every lounge.
Build a backup plan
Check one restaurant, one quiet gate area, or one paid lounge alternative before you travel. Amex access is valuable, but space availability and terminal layout can still ruin the plan.
Check lounge capacity before you walk across the terminal.
For U.S. Centurion Lounge locations, eligible Card Members can use the Amex App to check lounge details and join the digital waitlist where available. This is especially useful at crowded airports where walking to the lounge can cost you 10 to 20 minutes each way.
Still check the terminal before you move. A lounge that looks available in the app may not be worth it if it is outside your terminal, past a security checkpoint, or too far from your gate.
Can I get into the Centurion Lounge right now?
- Do you have your eligible Platinum Card? If no, stop.
- Do you have a same-day confirmed departing boarding pass? If no, stop.
- Are you within 3 hours of departure? If yes, continue.
- Are you on a layover after July 8, 2026? You must arrive within 5 hours of the connecting flight.
- Are you visiting Sidecar by Centurion Lounge at LAS? You must arrive within 90 minutes of departure.
- Are you bringing guests after July 8, 2026? They must be on the same flight as you.
- Is the lounge full? Access can still be denied because all access is subject to space availability.
Every major lounge type Amex Platinum can access
| Lounge Type | How You Get In | Best For | Watch Out For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Centurion Lounge | Show eligible Platinum Card, government ID, and same-day boarding pass | Best overall Amex lounge experience | 3-hour departure window, guest fees, 2026 same-flight guest rule, and space-available access |
| Sidecar by Centurion Lounge at LAS | Show eligible Platinum Card and same-day boarding pass at LAS | Shorter preflight visits at the Las Vegas Amex Lounge concept | 90-minute entry window before departure |
| Escape Lounges | Show eligible Amex card and same-day boarding pass | Airports without full Centurion Lounges | Access is subject to availability |
| Priority Pass Select | Enroll first, then show Priority Pass card and boarding pass | International airport coverage | Restaurant credits are not included with Amex-issued Priority Pass |
| Delta Sky Club | Fly Delta same day and show eligible Platinum Card | Delta flyers at hubs and focus cities | 10 visits each Medallion Year unless unlimited access is earned |
| Plaza Premium Lounges | Use eligible Amex access where participating | International travel and select premium terminals | Location coverage matters |
| Lufthansa Lounges Ending Sept. 30, 2026 |
Show eligible Platinum Card, government ID, and same-day boarding pass for a Lufthansa Group flight while the benefit remains active | Useful for Lufthansa, SWISS, and Austrian flyers at participating airports before October 1, 2026 | Access ends effective October 1, 2026, so do not count this as a long-term Platinum benefit |
| Select partner lounges | Follow the listed access rule in the Amex lounge finder | Extra coverage at specific airports | Rules can differ by lounge and country |
The simple takeaway: Centurion Lounges are the headline benefit, but the full value comes from stacking Centurion, Sidecar, Escape, Delta, Priority Pass, Plaza Premium, and partner lounge access around the airports you actually use.
Amex Platinum lounge guest rules in 2026
Guest rules are where many Platinum Card holders get surprised. The card does not give the same guest access at every lounge, and some rules change during 2026.
Guests usually cost extra.
- $50 for each adult guest unless complimentary guest access is earned.
- $30 for children ages 2 through 17 with proof of age.
- Children under 2 are complimentary with proof of age or lap infant boarding pass.
- Maximum of 2 paid guests per Card Member.
- Complimentary guest access requires $75,000 in eligible purchases in a calendar year.
- Effective July 8, 2026, all guests must be traveling on the same flight as the Card Member.
The airport still has the final say.
- Centurion Lounge access is within 3 hours of a departing flight.
- Effective July 8, 2026, layover access is limited to within 5 hours of the connecting flight.
- Same-day round-trip itineraries are not considered connecting flights.
- Sidecar by Centurion Lounge at LAS has a 90-minute entry window before departure.
- All access is subject to space availability, even if your card is eligible.
- A physical American Express Card may be required for paid guest access.
Where Amex Platinum lounge access is strongest
The card gets much better when your airport has a useful Centurion Lounge, Escape Lounge, Delta Sky Club, or Priority Pass option in your actual terminal.
Las Vegas Airport Lounges
LAS is especially relevant for Amex travelers because the Las Vegas Amex Lounge can make the Platinum Card feel useful on real airport days.
View LAS guide →JFK Airport Lounges
JFK can be strong for Amex Platinum, but terminal matters. A lounge in Terminal 4 does not help much if your flight leaves from another terminal.
View JFK guide →LAX Airport Lounges
LAX is a good example of why terminal location matters. Amex access can be valuable, but only if the lounge is practical for your departure.

What to do if the Amex lounge plan does not work
If the Centurion Lounge is full, check whether your airport has an Escape Lounge, Priority Pass lounge, Plaza Premium Lounge, or Delta Sky Club if you are flying Delta. If every lounge option is bad, use the airport food guide instead of forcing a weak lounge visit.
If you are traveling with guests and the Centurion guest fees are too high, compare Chase Sapphire Reserve and Capital One Venture X before applying. Those cards may fit better for travelers who care more about guest access than Centurion Lounge quality.
