Best Credit Card Lounges at JFK Airport in 2026, Ranked
JFK airport lounge access is unusually complicated because the best lounge is not simply the one attached to the most expensive credit card. Your terminal, departure gate, flight time, guest count and card can completely change the answer.
This guide focuses on the credit-card-accessible and card-relevant lounges at JFK, with special attention to Terminal 4, where Chase Sapphire, Capital One, American Express and Delta all operate important lounge options.
What is the best credit card lounge at JFK?
For most eligible Terminal 4 travelers, our first choice is the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways. It is near Gate A2 and combines made-to-order food, showers, work and relaxation areas, and a convenient location for travelers using the A gates.
Capital One Lounge is our strongest alternative when operating hours matter. Its Terminal 4 lounge is open 24 hours, making it unusually useful for overnight connections, very early departures and late-night flights.
Amex Platinum travelers should also consider the Centurion Lounge. It is located after security on Level 4 and currently operates from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
Eligible Delta travelers have additional choices, including two Terminal 4 Delta Sky Clubs. Qualifying premium-cabin passengers may also have access to the separate Delta One Lounge.
This is a credit-card lounge decision guide, not a directory of every JFK lounge. JFK also has airline and independent lounges outside the core options compared here.
What changed with JFK airport lounge access in 2026?
Older JFK lounge guides can now create the wrong impression because the lounge lineup, operating hours and access rules have evolved. The most important change for planning is that Terminal 4 should no longer be treated as a simple choice between the Centurion Lounge and a Delta Sky Club.
- Capital One Lounge is now a major Terminal 4 option. It is located on Level 3 in the Retail Hall near the B gates and currently operates 24 hours, giving it a major practical advantage for travelers outside normal lounge hours.
- Chase Sapphire Lounge is a serious premium-lounge competitor. The JFK Sapphire Lounge is in Terminal 4 near Gate A2 and currently operates from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily.
- The Centurion Lounge’s current published schedule is 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Older references to a later opening or closing time should not be used for current trip planning.
- Delta has two regular Sky Clubs in Terminal 4. There is a Concourse A location near Gate A8 and a separate Concourse B location, so simply writing “the JFK Delta Sky Club” is no longer precise enough.
- Delta One Lounge should be treated separately. It is a premium-cabin lounge with its own eligibility rules rather than a normal credit-card lounge substitute.
- JFK has more lounges than the five-option model used by some older guides. This guide therefore ranks the most relevant credit-card and card-linked choices instead of claiming these are every lounge at JFK.
Bottom line: Your card matters, but your terminal and departure time can matter just as much. A theoretically better lounge is not useful if reaching it creates unnecessary terminal-change risk or if it is closed when you arrive.
The most famous JFK lounge is not automatically the best lounge for your trip. A traveler with a 3:30 a.m. Terminal 4 connection may get far more practical value from the 24-hour Capital One Lounge than from a higher-profile lounge that has not opened yet. Likewise, a Delta traveler departing near the B gates may save meaningful walking time by choosing the nearby Sky Club instead of crossing Terminal 4 for another lounge.
Do not assume JFK terminals work like concourses inside one secure terminal. Choose a lounge in your departure terminal whenever possible. Changing terminals solely to visit a lounge can add transportation, security and walking time, making a technically “better” lounge the worse airport decision.
Our ranking of the best credit card lounges at JFK
For an eligible traveler departing from Terminal 4, we would start with the Chase Sapphire Lounge. It gives the strongest overall balance of food, amenities, guest access and location. Capital One moves ahead when your schedule falls outside normal lounge hours, while Centurion remains a strong Amex option.
| Rank | Lounge | Best For | JetKonnect Take |
|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways | Best overall for eligible Chase travelers | Our first choice when you have access and your Terminal 4 gate makes the location practical. |
| #2 | Capital One Lounge | Best for overnight, early and late flights | The 24-hour schedule is a major advantage that can make this the practical #1 at unusual flight times. |
| #3 | The Centurion Lounge | Best for eligible Amex Platinum travelers | A strong premium option, especially if Amex is already your primary lounge ecosystem. |
| #4 | Delta Sky Club — Concourse B | Eligible Delta travelers using B gates | Convenience can beat lounge-hopping when your departure gate is deep in Concourse B. |
| #5 | Delta Sky Club — Concourse A | Eligible Delta travelers using A gates | A practical Delta option when your flight and gate already put you in Concourse A. |
Do not interpret this ranking as putting Delta One Lounge below the five lounges above. Delta One Lounge is a separate premium-cabin product with different eligibility. If your ticket qualifies, evaluate it before relying on this credit-card lounge ranking.
JFK Terminal 4 lounge comparison
If you are standing in Terminal 4 and simply need to decide where to go, start with this table. The best option depends on your access method, departure time and gate.
| Lounge | Location | Published Hours | Main Access Route | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Sapphire Lounge | Terminal 4, Level 4, near Gate A2 | 5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. | Eligible Chase/J.P. Morgan card access through qualifying lounge benefits | Best overall balance |
| Capital One Lounge | Terminal 4, Level 3 Retail Hall near the B gates | 24 hours | Eligible Capital One cardholders; paid access may also be available under current terms | Overnight, early and late flights |
| Centurion Lounge | Terminal 4, Level 4 after security | 5:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. | Eligible American Express cards, including qualifying Platinum access | Amex Platinum travelers |
| Delta Sky Club — A | Terminal 4, Concourse A near Gate A8 | Check current Delta schedule before travel | Eligible Delta Sky Club membership, card or qualifying itinerary | Delta travelers using A gates |
| Delta Sky Club — B | Terminal 4, Concourse B near Gate B31 | Check current Delta schedule before travel | Eligible Delta Sky Club membership, card or qualifying itinerary | Delta travelers using B gates |
| Delta One Lounge | Terminal 4, between Concourses A and B, adjacent to the main security checkpoint | 4:30 a.m.–11:00 p.m. | Qualifying premium-cabin or other specifically eligible Delta access | Eligible Delta One travelers |
Delta One Lounge is not a normal substitute for a credit-card lounge. Access is based primarily on qualifying premium travel and other specifically eligible Delta access categories, so most readers should first determine whether their itinerary qualifies.
Which JFK lounge is best when you are traveling with guests?
Guest rules can change the ranking completely. A lounge that looks free for the cardholder may become expensive when you add a spouse, friend or children. Check the policy for the exact card you plan to use rather than assuming all premium cards include the same guest benefit.
| Lounge | Typical Eligible Cardholder Guest Rule | Potential Guest Cost | Important Restriction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Sapphire Lounge | Eligible Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Reserve for Business primary, and J.P. Morgan Reserve members can bring up to 2 guests per Priority Pass membership card per visit at no additional cost. | $0 for the first 2 qualifying guests under the eligible-card policy | Cardholder access eligibility and boarding-pass requirements still apply. |
| Capital One Lounge | Complimentary guest access is no longer something every Venture X traveler should assume. Current guest treatment depends on account eligibility and annual spend. | Eligible paid guest access can be $45 per adult; other visitor pricing can be higher. | Verify your account’s current guest entitlement before arriving. |
| Centurion Lounge | U.S. Platinum Card Members who have not unlocked complimentary guest access generally pay for guests. | $50 per adult; $30 for children ages 2–17; children under 2 can enter complimentary under current terms. | Guests must travel on the same flight as the Card Member. |
| Centurion Lounge after $75,000 qualifying spend | Eligible U.S. Platinum accounts can unlock complimentary access for up to 2 guests per visit. | $0 for up to 2 qualifying guests after the benefit is unlocked | The qualifying spend requirement and same-flight rule apply. |
| Delta Sky Club | Varies by membership, eligible card and access method. | Do not assume complimentary guests. | Delta itinerary, fare and card-specific restrictions may apply. |
| Delta One Lounge | Guest eligibility depends on the qualifying access category. | Not a general paid-guest credit-card lounge policy | Confirm eligibility from the specific Delta One access rule attached to your itinerary or status. |
Do Venture X cardholders still get free Capital One Lounge guests?
Do not rely on older articles saying every Venture X cardholder automatically receives two complimentary Capital One Lounge guests. The 2026 policy changed the household value of the card.
- The primary eligible cardholder remains the core lounge user. Your own qualifying access is separate from the guest policy.
- Guest access can cost $45 per adult under eligible discounted guest pricing. This means a couple or family should calculate guest costs rather than treating the lounge benefit as automatically free for everyone.
- High annual spend can change the guest rule. Eligible accounts that meet Capital One’s required $75,000 annual account-spend threshold can receive two complimentary Capital One Lounge guests per visit under the current policy.
- Other visitors may face the standard $90 visit rate at participating Capital One Lounge and Landing locations. Availability and location-specific rules still apply.
This is one of the biggest reasons older Venture X lounge guides can now give JFK travelers the wrong answer.
Where are the main lounges inside JFK Terminal 4?
Terminal 4 has several premium lounges, but they are not all sitting beside each other. Your gate can determine whether lounge-hopping makes sense or simply adds unnecessary walking.
Near the A gates
Chase Sapphire Lounge is near Gate A2, while the Concourse A Delta Sky Club is near Gate A8. These are especially convenient when your flight already departs from the A side of Terminal 4.
Near the B gates
Capital One Lounge is on Level 3 in the Retail Hall near the B gates. Delta’s Concourse B Sky Club is farther into the B concourse near Gate B31, making gate location especially important.
Near the main security area
Centurion Lounge is on Level 4 after security. The separate Delta One Lounge sits between Concourses A and B adjacent to the main security checkpoint, but it requires qualifying access.
A-gate departure: Start by comparing Chase Sapphire with the nearby Delta Sky Club if you qualify for both. B-gate departure: Capital One becomes particularly convenient near the Retail Hall, while eligible Delta travelers departing deep in B should consider the B31 Sky Club. Do not spend your entire preflight window walking across Terminal 4 just to move one position higher in a lounge ranking.
Which JFK lounge should you choose?
| Your Situation | Start With | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible Chase traveler | Chase Sapphire Lounge | Strong overall combination of food, amenities and guest policy. |
| Very early flight | Capital One Lounge | 24-hour operation makes it useful before other premium lounges open. |
| Overnight connection | Capital One Lounge | Its schedule is the key advantage. |
| Amex Platinum holder | Centurion Lounge | Natural choice when Amex is your primary lounge-access ecosystem. |
| Delta flyer near A gates | Delta Sky Club near A8 | Gate convenience may outweigh crossing the terminal for another lounge. |
| Delta flyer near B31 | Delta Sky Club — Concourse B | Useful when your flight is already departing deep in Concourse B. |
| Eligible Delta One passenger | Delta One Lounge | Treat premium-cabin eligibility separately from the normal card-lounge ranking. |
| Traveling with two guests | Check Chase first if eligible | Eligible Reserve access currently includes up to two complimentary guests per visit. |
Lounge-hopping is not automatically better value. If you have Chase, Amex and Capital One access, visiting all three may sound like maximizing your cards. In practice, the better move is usually to choose the lounge that fits your gate and schedule, eat or work there, and leave enough time to reach your flight without turning the airport into a race.
Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways
Our first choice for most eligible Terminal 4 travelers is the Chase Sapphire Lounge near Gate A2. It combines a convenient A-gate location with made-to-order dining, self-serve food and drinks, showers, work areas, relaxation spaces and digital ordering.
- Location: Terminal 4, Level 4, above and near Gate A2.
- Hours: 5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. daily, subject to change.
- Best for: Eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve and other qualifying Chase/J.P. Morgan travelers.
- Guest advantage: Eligible cardmembers can currently bring up to two guests at no additional charge per visit.
- Strongest feature: A useful combination of dining, showers, seating and work-friendly amenities rather than one single standout benefit.
Why do we rank the Chase Sapphire Lounge #1 at JFK?
The Chase lounge does not need to win every individual category to be our overall pick. Its strength is balance. For an eligible traveler already departing from Terminal 4, it provides food, drinks, showers, comfortable seating and work-friendly space in one lounge.
The location near Gate A2 makes it particularly attractive for travelers using the A side of Terminal 4. If your flight leaves from deep in the B gates, however, location should become part of the decision rather than automatically walking to Chase because it ranks first on this page.
| Terminal | Terminal 4 |
|---|---|
| Location | Level 4, above and near Gate A2 |
| Published hours | 5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. daily |
| Best access method | Eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Reserve for Business primary cardmember, J.P. Morgan Reserve, or another currently qualifying Chase-issued access route |
| Free guests | Up to 2 for eligible Chase cardmembers under the current policy |
| Entry window | Up to 3 hours before a departing flight for eligible Chase access |
| JetKonnect ranking | #1 overall for most eligible Terminal 4 travelers |
How do you get into the Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK?
For eligible Chase customers, lounge access is tied to the Chase Sapphire Reserve Lounge Network and qualifying Chase-issued lounge credentials. Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers, Sapphire Reserve for Business primary cardmembers and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardmembers are among the travelers who can receive complimentary access under current terms.
Eligible travelers should have a valid departing boarding pass and their qualifying Chase access credential ready. Chase currently allows eligible cardmembers to enter up to three hours before their scheduled departing flight.
Do not write that Priority Pass cannot get you into the Chase Sapphire Lounge. Eligible Chase cardmembers can use their Chase-issued Priority Pass Select membership for Sapphire Lounge access. The important distinction is who issued the Priority Pass membership and which access rules apply to that membership.
Does Priority Pass get you into the JFK Chase Sapphire Lounge?
Sometimes, but the answer depends on the type of Priority Pass membership you have.
Eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve and other qualifying Chase cardmembers receive Chase-issued Priority Pass Select membership that can be used for complimentary Sapphire Lounge access under the card’s current terms.
Priority Pass members who do not receive their membership through an eligible Chase card should not assume they receive the same unlimited Sapphire Lounge access or guest privileges as a Sapphire Reserve cardholder. Standard Priority Pass rules for Sapphire Lounge locations can differ, including visit limits and fees.
Two travelers can both open the Priority Pass app and still have different access rights at the same Chase lounge. The underlying credit card and membership type matter.
What is inside the JFK Chase Sapphire Lounge?
The JFK Sapphire Lounge is designed as more than a basic buffet-and-seating lounge. Chase lists a combination of dining, beverage, work and relaxation features that make it practical for both short visits and longer preflight waits.
Food and drinks
Expect fresh seasonal food, including halal offerings, self-serve options and digital food ordering. The beverage program includes Joe Coffee, wine and craft cocktails, subject to alcohol-service hours.
Showers and relaxation
Bookable showers, private and accessible bathrooms, relaxation areas and reflection rooms make the lounge more useful during longer connections or before long-haul departures.
Work and connectivity
High-speed Wi-Fi and dedicated areas for working or relaxing give business travelers a practical place to work before departure.
- You already have eligible Sapphire Lounge access.
- You are departing from Terminal 4, especially from an A gate.
- You value made-to-order food and a broader lounge experience.
- You need a shower before or between long flights.
- You are traveling with up to two guests and qualify for Chase’s current complimentary guest policy.
- Your flight falls outside the Chase lounge’s operating hours.
- You are departing deep in the B gates and another eligible lounge is much closer.
- You have Delta One Lounge eligibility.
- Your Chase lounge access is not complimentary under your specific Priority Pass membership.
- The lounge is capacity-controlled when you arrive and another strong option is immediately available.
Why Chase gets our #1 overall position
This ranking is based on the current published access rules, amenities, hours and Terminal 4 location rather than a claim that Chase is objectively better for every traveler. The strongest reason to choose it is the overall package: useful dining, showers, work and relaxation space, plus a favorable guest policy for eligible Chase cardmembers.
If your departure time or gate makes another lounge materially more convenient, use the ranking as guidance rather than a rule.
Capital One Lounge at JFK Terminal 4
The Capital One Lounge has one advantage none of the other main credit-card lounges in this guide can match: it is currently open 24 hours.
That single operational difference can move Capital One from #2 to #1 for a specific trip. If you arrive at Terminal 4 overnight, have an extremely early departure, or need a lounge after competing locations have closed, the best lounge on paper matters less than the lounge that is actually open.
| Terminal | Terminal 4 |
|---|---|
| Location | Level 3, Retail Hall near the B Gates |
| Published hours | Open 24 hours |
| Best access method | Eligible Capital One Venture X access |
| Key 2026 issue | Guest and additional-cardholder lounge rules changed |
| JetKonnect ranking | #2 overall; #1 when its 24-hour schedule solves your trip |
When Capital One is actually the better choice
Choose Capital One over Chase when operating hours or your B-gate location make it more practical. Its Level 3 Retail Hall location near the B Gates and 24-hour operation give it a different use case from the other premium lounges.
- Best for: Overnight connections and unusual departure times.
- Location advantage: Particularly useful for travelers heading toward the B side of Terminal 4.
- Card fit: Strongest for eligible Venture X travelers who regularly use Capital One Lounge airports.
- Main limitation: The 2026 guest-policy changes make it less automatically attractive for couples and families.
How do you get into the Capital One Lounge at JFK?
Eligible Venture X cardholders can use their qualifying Capital One Lounge benefit, subject to the current account terms and lounge capacity.
For Capital One Lounge entry, eligible cardholders should present their physical Venture X card or the digital lounge pass available through the Capital One Mobile app. Priority Pass is a separate benefit used for participating Priority Pass lounges and should not be treated as the credential for entering a Capital One Lounge.
Capital One Lounge ≠ Priority Pass Lounge. Having Venture X Priority Pass does not mean you should present the Priority Pass digital membership card at the Capital One Lounge. Use your eligible Capital One credential or Capital One digital lounge pass for Capital One’s own lounge network.
What changed for Venture X guests in 2026?
The biggest mistake in older JFK lounge articles is continuing to describe Venture X as automatically including two complimentary Capital One Lounge guests for every eligible cardholder.
The current policy makes guest access more dependent on account eligibility and annual spending. That means couples and families should calculate the cost of lounge visits before treating Venture X as a household lounge solution.
- Eligible primary cardholder: Your own qualifying Capital One Lounge access remains the core benefit.
- Adult guest: Eligible discounted guest access can cost $45 per visit for guests age 18 and older.
- Younger guest: Eligible discounted pricing can be $25 for guests age 17 and under, with children under 2 admitted free under the current policy.
- $75,000 annual account spend: Eligible accounts meeting the required annual spend threshold can unlock two complimentary guests per Capital One Lounge visit.
- Standard visitor rate: Other travelers can face a $90 per-visit rate at select Capital One Lounge and Landing locations.
Why does Capital One’s 24-hour schedule matter at JFK?
Many lounge comparisons focus almost entirely on food, drinks and design. At JFK, opening hours can be more important.
Terminal 4 handles flights across a wide range of international schedules. If your lounge visit falls outside the normal operating window of Chase Sapphire or Centurion, Capital One can become the practical winner before you compare a single menu item.
| Example Time | Capital One | Chase Sapphire | Centurion |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3:30 a.m. | Open | Closed | Closed |
| 5:30 a.m. | Open | Open | Open |
| 9:00 p.m. | Open | Open | Open |
| 10:30 p.m. | Open | Open | Closed |
| 11:30 p.m. | Open | Closed | Closed |
A lounge that ranks #2 overall can easily become the best lounge for your actual flight. At 3:30 a.m. or 11:30 p.m., Capital One’s 24-hour schedule matters more than our general ranking.
What should you expect inside the Capital One Lounge?
Capital One positions its lounge network around chef-inspired food, regional flavors, drinks and comfortable spaces for travelers to recharge. For JFK, the most important differentiator is that those amenities are available around the clock under the lounge’s current published schedule.
Food
Capital One Lounges emphasize chef-inspired food with regional influences, giving travelers a more substantial alternative to relying entirely on terminal dining.
Drinks and recharge time
The lounge is designed as a place to eat, drink and recharge before a flight rather than simply providing a waiting room away from the terminal.
24-hour access window
This is the defining JFK advantage. The lounge remains a realistic option when most competing premium credit-card lounges are closed.
- You have eligible Capital One Lounge access.
- Your flight leaves extremely early or late.
- You have an overnight Terminal 4 connection.
- Your departure gate makes the B-side location convenient.
- You usually travel alone and therefore avoid repeated guest charges.
- You regularly travel with guests and have not unlocked complimentary guest access.
- You have Chase access with two complimentary guests and are traveling as a group.
- Your A-gate departure makes Chase significantly more convenient.
- You have qualifying Delta One Lounge access.
- You are considering crossing terminals solely to visit Capital One.
Why Capital One gets our #2 position
Capital One ranks second because Chase offers the stronger all-around package for many eligible Terminal 4 travelers, especially when complimentary guests matter. But the ranking reverses quickly when schedule becomes the deciding factor.
For an overnight connection or a departure outside the operating hours of Chase and Centurion, Capital One is our practical #1. That is a more useful way to evaluate the lounge than treating one ranking as correct for every JFK itinerary.
Chase Sapphire Lounge vs Capital One Lounge at JFK
If you can enter both lounges, the decision is simpler than it first appears. Start with your flight time, then your guest count, and finally your gate.
| Category | Chase Sapphire | Capital One |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Level 4 near Gate A2 | Level 3 Retail Hall near B Gates |
| Hours | 5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. | 24 hours |
| Best overall | Our pick | Close second |
| Very early / overnight | Limited by opening hours | Winner |
| Two guests | Strong for eligible Chase cardmembers | Guest fees may apply unless current spend-based benefit is unlocked |
| A-gate convenience | Strong | Depends on gate |
| B-side convenience | Depends on gate | Strong |
| Showers | Officially listed | Check current JFK amenities before relying on a shower |
| Best reader | Eligible Chase traveler wanting the strongest overall package | Eligible Capital One traveler prioritizing schedule and B-side convenience |
Choose Chase during normal hours when both lounges are convenient and your access is complimentary. Choose Capital One when its 24-hour schedule or B-side location materially improves your trip. If you are traveling with guests, calculate the actual guest cost before deciding.
The Centurion Lounge at JFK Terminal 4
The Centurion Lounge remains one of the strongest premium lounge choices at JFK for eligible American Express travelers. Its Terminal 4 location, food and beverage program, showers and multiple spaces for working or relaxing make it a serious alternative to Chase and Capital One.
- Location: Terminal 4, Level 4 after security.
- Published hours: 5:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. daily.
- Best for: Eligible Amex Platinum and other qualifying Centurion Lounge users.
- Key limitation: Guest access can become expensive if you have not unlocked complimentary guests.
- Schedule limitation: Capital One has the advantage for overnight and very late JFK lounge visits.
How do you get into the JFK Centurion Lounge?
Access is available to eligible American Express cardmembers under the current Centurion Lounge terms. For many U.S. travelers, the most familiar route is an eligible Platinum Card.
You should have your eligible American Express card, same-day boarding pass and identification available when entering. Access remains subject to the lounge’s current admission and capacity rules.
| Terminal | Terminal 4 |
|---|---|
| Location | Level 4 after security |
| Published hours | 5:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. daily |
| Primary card fit | Eligible American Express Platinum and other qualifying Centurion Lounge cards |
| Standard adult guest fee | $50 per guest under current U.S. Platinum guest terms |
| Children ages 2–17 | $30 per child when proof of age is provided |
| Children under 2 | Complimentary when accompanied by the eligible cardmember and required documentation is provided |
| JetKonnect ranking | #3 overall for the main credit-card lounge choices in this guide |
How does the Centurion Lounge guest policy work?
Do not assume an Amex Platinum Card automatically includes two free Centurion Lounge guests. For U.S. consumer and business Platinum accounts that have not earned the complimentary guest benefit, guest charges generally apply.
- Adult guest: $50 per visit under the current applicable guest policy.
- Child ages 2–17: $30 per visit when proof of age is provided.
- Child under 2: Complimentary when accompanied by the eligible cardmember and appropriate age documentation is provided.
- $75,000 qualifying annual spend: Eligible U.S. Platinum accounts that satisfy the current calendar-year purchase requirement can unlock complimentary guest access for up to two guests per visit.
- Same-flight requirement: Under the current updated Centurion Lounge policy, guests must be traveling on the same flight as the eligible cardmember.
How early can you enter the JFK Centurion Lounge?
Centurion Lounge access is generally limited to travelers with a confirmed reservation for same-day air travel. For departing flights, the standard Centurion Lounge rule generally limits entry to within three hours of the scheduled departure time.
Connecting travelers can be treated differently under the current Centurion Lounge terms, so do not automatically apply the standard three-hour departure rule to a genuine same-day connection.
A long JFK layover does not automatically mean you can enter every lounge as soon as you arrive. Entry-window rules differ by lounge and access method. Check the rule attached to your specific card and itinerary.
What makes the JFK Centurion Lounge different?
The Centurion Lounge remains competitive because it offers more than basic seating and snacks. Its appeal is the combination of food, drinks, showers and distinct spaces within the lounge.
Food and drinks
The Centurion Lounge network is built around complimentary food and a premium beverage program. At JFK, this makes the lounge a useful alternative to paying for a full terminal meal before departure.
Showers
Shower facilities are particularly useful before a long-haul departure or during an eligible connection. Availability can depend on demand, so do not leave a shower until the final minutes before boarding.
Different spaces
The JFK location includes multiple areas for eating, drinking, working and relaxing, which can make it more useful than a simple one-room lounge during a longer visit.
- Amex is your primary premium-card ecosystem.
- You already have complimentary eligible access.
- You value showers, food and premium beverage options.
- You are traveling alone and therefore avoid guest fees.
- Your flight time falls comfortably inside the lounge’s operating hours.
- You are traveling with two guests and would have to pay Centurion guest fees.
- Your visit falls outside the 5:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. published schedule.
- You have complimentary Chase access and are traveling with eligible guests.
- Capital One’s 24-hour operation better fits your departure time.
- You qualify for Delta One Lounge access.
Why Centurion ranks #3 instead of automatically #1
Centurion’s brand reputation does not make it the automatic JFK winner. Chase can offer better guest economics for eligible cardmembers, while Capital One has a major schedule advantage with 24-hour operation.
That does not make Centurion a weak lounge. It means the best JFK lounge decision should be based on your actual card, guests, gate and flight time instead of brand recognition alone.
JFK has two Delta Sky Clubs in Terminal 4
One of the most important corrections to older JFK lounge guides is that Terminal 4 should not be described as having one generic Delta Sky Club. Delta operates separate Sky Club locations serving the A and B sides of the terminal.
For eligible Delta travelers, your gate can be more important than trying to identify which Sky Club is theoretically better. Walking deep into the wrong concourse for a short lounge visit is rarely a good airport strategy.
| Sky Club | Location | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Concourse A Sky Club | Terminal 4, near Gate A8 | Eligible Delta travelers using A gates |
| Concourse B Sky Club | Terminal 4, near Gate B31 | Eligible Delta travelers departing deeper into the B concourse |
Which JFK Delta Sky Club should you use?
Use the Sky Club that makes sense for your departure gate unless you have enough time and a specific reason to do otherwise.
If your flight leaves from the A gates, the A8 location is the natural starting point. If you are departing deep in Concourse B, the B31 club can save significant backtracking.
- A-gate departure: Start with the A8 Sky Club.
- Deep B-gate departure: Start with the B31 Sky Club.
- Short connection: Prioritize gate proximity.
- Long connection: You have more flexibility, but boarding time still matters.
Can Amex Platinum and Delta Reserve cardholders use the JFK Sky Clubs?
Yes, but the rules are more restrictive than simply holding the card. Eligible American Express Platinum and Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardmembers can receive Delta Sky Club access when the required same-day Delta itinerary and other current access conditions are satisfied.
| Eligible Card | Annual Visit Allocation | Important Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Amex Platinum | 10 Delta Sky Club visits per eligible card per Medallion year | Requires eligible same-day Delta travel and compliance with current Delta access terms. |
| Delta SkyMiles Reserve | 15 Delta Sky Club visits per eligible card per Medallion year | Requires eligible same-day Delta travel and compliance with current Delta access terms. |
Do not describe Amex Platinum as unlimited Delta Sky Club access. The standard current allocation is 10 visits per eligible card per Medallion year. Delta Reserve receives 15 visits. Eligible cardmembers who satisfy the applicable annual spending threshold can unlock unlimited visits under the current program terms.
Does visiting two Delta Sky Clubs at JFK use two visits?
This is where the word visit can be misleading. Under Delta’s current card-access structure, one visit generally provides access to Delta Sky Clubs during a 24-hour period beginning with your first entry, subject to the applicable terms.
That can matter at JFK because Terminal 4 has two Sky Clubs. Moving between eligible Delta Sky Clubs during the same qualifying travel day does not necessarily mean burning a completely separate annual visit each time you enter a club during that 24-hour visit period.
Ten Delta Sky Club “visits” do not necessarily mean ten individual lounge door entries. The current 24-hour visit structure can make the annual allocation more useful for eligible travelers making connections or using multiple clubs during one qualifying trip.
Does any Delta ticket qualify for card-based Sky Club access?
No. Holding an eligible Amex Platinum or Delta Reserve card does not override every Delta ticket restriction.
- Same-day eligible Delta travel is required for the normal card-based Sky Club access routes discussed here.
- Basic Economy restrictions matter. Travelers booked in Delta Main Basic or an equivalent excluded basic-economy fare should not assume their premium card will provide Sky Club access.
- Partner-operated itineraries can have different conditions. Check the exact operating and marketing carrier rules before relying on card access.
- Guest access is separate. Your own eligible card access does not automatically mean your companions enter free.
For airport planning, verify the fare and operating carrier before treating a Delta Sky Club as your guaranteed JFK lounge.
- You have eligible same-day Delta travel and qualifying access.
- Your departure gate is close to one of the two Sky Clubs.
- You want to avoid unnecessary Terminal 4 backtracking.
- Your annual card-based Delta visit allocation still has value available.
- You are already traveling within the Delta ecosystem.
- Your ticket is not eligible for card-based Sky Club access.
- You are trying to preserve a limited annual Sky Club visit allocation.
- You have complimentary Chase, Capital One or Centurion access that better fits the trip.
- You have qualifying Delta One Lounge access.
- Your companions make another lounge’s guest policy substantially better.
Delta One Lounge at JFK
If your itinerary qualifies for the Delta One Lounge, do not treat it as simply another entry in the credit-card lounge ranking. It is a separate premium lounge product with eligibility tied primarily to qualifying premium travel and other specifically eligible access categories.
- Terminal: Terminal 4.
- Location: Between Concourses A and B, adjacent to the main security checkpoint.
- Published hours: 4:30 a.m.–11:00 p.m. daily.
- Best for: Travelers with qualifying Delta One or other specifically eligible premium access.
- Important: A normal Amex Platinum or Delta Reserve card should not by itself be treated as automatic Delta One Lounge admission.
Who can use the JFK Delta One Lounge?
The Delta One Lounge has a narrower eligibility model than a normal Delta Sky Club. Access is designed around qualifying premium travel and other specifically defined eligible passengers.
That distinction matters because a traveler may have access to a regular Delta Sky Club through an eligible credit card while not having access to the Delta One Lounge.
If your access comes only from Amex Platinum or Delta Reserve, start by evaluating the regular Delta Sky Clubs. Treat Delta One Lounge as an option only when your itinerary or another qualifying access category specifically makes you eligible.
What is the difference between Delta One Lounge and Delta Sky Club?
| Feature | Delta One Lounge | Delta Sky Club |
|---|---|---|
| Primary purpose | Premium lounge for specifically eligible premium travelers | Delta’s broader membership and card-access lounge network |
| JFK locations | One Terminal 4 Delta One Lounge | Two Terminal 4 Sky Clubs |
| Credit-card access alone | Do not assume access | Available through qualifying cards when Delta’s travel requirements are met |
| Amex Platinum | Not automatic Delta One Lounge access | 10 visits per eligible card per Medallion year under current terms |
| Delta Reserve | Not automatic Delta One Lounge access | 15 visits per eligible card per Medallion year under current terms |
| Best use case | Qualifying premium itinerary | Eligible Delta traveler with membership, card or other qualifying access |
Check Delta One eligibility first. If you qualify, evaluate the Delta One Lounge separately. If you do not qualify, compare the A8 and B31 Sky Clubs based on your gate, card access and remaining annual visits. Do not cross Terminal 4 simply because one regular Sky Club has a slightly better reputation online.
What if you have Amex, Chase and Capital One lounge access?
Travelers with multiple premium cards should not automatically lounge-hop. Use your flight time, guest count and departure gate to narrow the choice first.
| Situation | Our Starting Choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Solo traveler during normal hours | Chase Sapphire | Best overall balance in our ranking |
| 3:00 a.m. lounge visit | Capital One | 24-hour operation |
| Two guests with eligible Chase access | Chase Sapphire | Current complimentary guest policy can be more favorable |
| Solo Amex traveler near Centurion | Centurion | No need to walk farther simply to follow a generic ranking |
| Eligible Delta traveler near B31 | Delta Sky Club — B | Gate convenience can outweigh lounge-hopping |
| Qualifying Delta One passenger | Delta One Lounge | Evaluate the premium-cabin lounge separately |
How should you choose a lounge at JFK?
The best JFK lounge is not determined by one ranking. Start with the lounge you can actually enter, then compare your departure terminal, gate, flight time and guest costs. This prevents a common mistake: spending valuable airport time chasing a lounge that is only slightly better on paper.
Pick your JFK lounge in this order
Use this process before comparing menus, cocktails or lounge reviews.
Check access
Identify which lounges you can enter with your credit card, airline status, cabin, membership or paid-access option. Remove every lounge you cannot realistically access.
Check time and gate
Compare lounge hours with your actual visit time, then look at your departure gate. A nearby lounge can be the better choice even when another ranks higher overall.
Check guest cost
If you are traveling with someone else, calculate what the whole group will pay. Guest rules can completely reverse the ranking for couples and families.
Which JFK lounge should you use based on the card you have?
| Card or Access | Start With | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Chase Sapphire Reserve | Chase Sapphire Lounge | Strong overall lounge plus favorable guest access for eligible cardmembers. |
| Capital One Venture X | Capital One Lounge | Direct Capital One Lounge benefit and particularly useful 24-hour schedule. |
| Amex Platinum | Centurion Lounge | Natural starting point for travelers using the American Express lounge ecosystem. |
| Amex Platinum + eligible Delta flight | Compare Centurion and Delta Sky Club | Your gate, remaining Delta visits and guest situation should decide. |
| Delta Reserve + eligible Delta flight | Delta Sky Club | Card-based Delta access can make the nearest Sky Club the practical choice. |
| Qualifying Delta One itinerary | Delta One Lounge | Evaluate premium-cabin lounge eligibility before ordinary card lounges. |
| General Priority Pass membership | Check current Priority Pass JFK listings | Participating lounges, visit rules and capacity restrictions can vary by membership and terminal. |
For a card-first comparison, see our best card for JFK lounge access and best airport lounge access cards guides.
Which JFK lounge is best for your departure time?
Operating hours can eliminate several choices before amenities matter. Capital One’s 24-hour Terminal 4 schedule is especially important here.
| Visit Time | Start With | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Overnight | Capital One Lounge | Its 24-hour schedule makes it the clearest premium card-lounge option during overnight hours. |
| Before 4:30 a.m. | Capital One Lounge | Other major premium lounges in this guide have not yet reached their normal opening time. |
| 4:30–5:00 a.m. | Capital One; Delta One if eligible | Delta One’s published schedule begins at 4:30 a.m., but access is restricted to qualifying travelers. |
| 5:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. | Compare all lounges you can access | This is the main overlap period when card, gate and guest policy matter most. |
| 10:00–11:00 p.m. | Chase or Capital One | Centurion’s currently published schedule ends earlier. |
| After 11:00 p.m. | Capital One Lounge | The 24-hour schedule becomes the decisive advantage. |
Does your JFK Terminal 4 gate change the best lounge?
Yes. Terminal 4 is large enough that gate location should influence your decision. Do not evaluate a lounge as if every Terminal 4 gate were equally convenient.
| Gate Area | Useful Starting Options | Planning Logic |
|---|---|---|
| Near A2 | Chase Sapphire Lounge | Chase’s location makes it an obvious first comparison when you qualify. |
| Near A8 | Chase Sapphire or Delta Sky Club A | Eligible Delta travelers should compare access and walking convenience. |
| Retail Hall / early B side | Capital One Lounge | The Capital One location can be particularly convenient before heading deeper into B. |
| Near B31 | Delta Sky Club B if eligible | A nearby Sky Club may be more useful than backtracking across the terminal. |
| Qualifying Delta One traveler | Delta One Lounge | Its position near the main security area and separate premium access model make it a different decision. |
Do not choose a lounge before checking your terminal
JFK is not one continuous post-security airport complex. A lounge being at JFK does not automatically mean it is practical for your flight.
Changing terminals can involve leaving the secure area, using airport transportation and passing through security again before reaching your departure gate.
Can you visit a lounge in another JFK terminal?
In some situations you may be able to travel between JFK terminals, but that does not mean doing so is a good lounge strategy.
Your ability to enter another terminal can depend on security procedures, your boarding pass, terminal access policies and the time available before departure. Even when the trip is possible, you still need enough time to return to your departure terminal and clear any required security checkpoint.
Use your departure terminal as the default lounge boundary. Treat a cross-terminal lounge visit as an exception that requires extra time, not as the normal way to use JFK lounges.
Can you use AirTrain to move between JFK terminals?
AirTrain is the main airport transportation system connecting JFK’s passenger terminals and other airport facilities. For lounge planning, however, the important issue is not simply how quickly the train itself moves.
A cross-terminal lounge trip can also involve walking to the station, waiting for the train, reaching the other terminal, navigating that terminal and potentially clearing security. You then need to repeat enough of that process to reach your actual departure gate.
The AirTrain ride is not the same thing as your terminal-transfer time. Airport planning should account for the complete door-to-door process, including security and walking, rather than timing only the train.
How much extra time should you allow for a cross-terminal lounge visit?
For planning purposes, we would protect roughly 45–60 minutes of extra buffer rather than assuming a fast terminal transfer. This is a conservative JetKonnect planning buffer, not an official JFK guarantee or fixed transfer time.
The real time can be shorter or longer depending on walking distance, AirTrain timing, security queues, terminal layout and your specific gate.
- Do not treat 45 minutes as guaranteed. Security alone can make the trip longer.
- Do not count lounge time as transfer buffer. Keep enough protected time after leaving the lounge to reach your actual gate.
- International flights need more caution. Boarding can begin well before the scheduled departure time.
- Mobility needs matter. Travelers who need additional walking or assistance time should use a larger buffer.
- You have a genuinely long connection.
- You have confirmed that you can access the other terminal and lounge.
- The lounge offers something materially valuable to you.
- You have a large time buffer after the planned lounge visit.
- You understand that security and transportation conditions can change.
- You have less than a comfortable preflight buffer.
- You are traveling internationally and boarding begins early.
- You have checked luggage or other timing constraints.
- A decent lounge is already available in your departure terminal.
- You would be changing terminals only to move one position higher in an online ranking.
Can you buy a JFK airport lounge day pass?
Sometimes, but JFK does not have one universal lounge day-pass system. Paid entry depends on the individual lounge, capacity, terminal, time of day and current access rules.
This means you should not arrive at JFK assuming that Chase Sapphire, Centurion, Capital One, Delta Sky Club and every independent lounge will simply sell admission at the door.
If you do not have complimentary access, check the specific lounge’s current access page before your trip. Do not build a long layover around a walk-up day pass that has not been confirmed.
Paid access is lounge-specific
The cleanest way to think about JFK paid lounge access is to separate credit-card lounges from participating independent lounges.
- Some lounges are primarily designed around eligible cards or memberships.
- Some independent lounges participate in networks such as Priority Pass.
- Some locations may offer paid entry when capacity allows.
- A lounge that normally accepts paid visitors may restrict admission during busy periods.
- Your boarding terminal can make an otherwise available day pass impractical.
Can you pay to enter the JFK Capital One Lounge?
Capital One uses a paid-access structure in addition to complimentary access for eligible cardholders. Under the current policy, eligible cardholders without complimentary guest access can receive discounted guest pricing, while other visitors can face the standard visit rate.
| Visitor Type | Current Pricing Snapshot | Important Note |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible adult guest | $45 | Applies under eligible discounted guest terms. |
| Eligible guest age 17 or younger | $25 | Subject to current Capital One guest terms. |
| Child under 2 | Complimentary | Current terms apply. |
| Standard visitor rate | $90 | Access remains subject to capacity and current location rules. |
Can non-Chase Priority Pass members use the JFK Sapphire Lounge?
Priority Pass access to Sapphire Lounges requires more nuance than a simple yes or no. Eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve and other qualifying Chase cardmembers receive their own Chase-issued lounge access privileges.
Priority Pass customers whose membership comes from another source can be subject to different Sapphire Lounge rules, including limits on complimentary visits and charges for additional visits or guests.
Chase-issued Priority Pass is not the same access proposition as every other Priority Pass membership. Before traveling, check the membership attached to your specific card rather than assuming another person’s Sapphire Lounge experience applies to you.
Which JFK lounges can Priority Pass members use?
JFK has multiple lounges that participate in Priority Pass, but the lineup and admission restrictions can change. Terminal, operating hours, capacity and the source of your Priority Pass membership can all matter.
| JFK Area | Examples | What To Check |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal 1 | Participating independent and airline-partner lounges may be available | International-flight restrictions, opening hours, capacity and current Priority Pass listing |
| Terminal 4 | Chase Sapphire Lounge and participating independent/airline lounges | Your Priority Pass membership type, visit limits, terminal access and capacity |
| Other JFK terminals | Availability depends on the current Priority Pass network | Check the live Priority Pass listing for your actual departure terminal |
Priority Pass lounge participation, operating windows and admission restrictions can change faster than an evergreen airport guide. Use this article to understand the strategy, then verify the current participating locations for your terminal before travel.
Can you use a JFK lounge without Amex Platinum, Venture X or Sapphire Reserve?
Yes. Premium credit cards are only one path into airport lounges. Depending on the lounge and your itinerary, access can also come from an airline ticket, elite status, airline lounge membership, Priority Pass membership or paid admission.
Premium ticket
A qualifying international or premium-cabin ticket can include lounge access without requiring a premium credit card. Delta One Lounge is a clear example of why ticket-based access should be checked first.
Airline status or membership
Eligible frequent-flyer status or an airline lounge membership may provide access to specific airline lounges when the itinerary satisfies current requirements.
Paid or network access
Some lounges can be available through Priority Pass or paid entry. Availability should always be verified before you build your airport plan around it.
You do not need to enter a lounge just because paid access is available. A $45–$90 entry can be reasonable during a long delay or overnight wait, but poor value when boarding starts soon. The value of a lounge pass depends on how much usable time you actually have inside.
What should you do if your preferred JFK lounge is full?
If Chase is full: Eligible Terminal 4 travelers should compare Capital One, Centurion or a Delta Sky Club rather than waiting indefinitely, depending on the access they hold.
If Capital One is busy: Check whether Chase or Centurion is open and practical for your gate. Do not abandon Capital One automatically if it is the only option open during overnight hours.
If Centurion has a wait: Travelers with multiple premium cards should compare Chase or Capital One before spending a large part of their preflight window waiting.
If a Delta Sky Club is crowded: Check the other Terminal 4 Sky Club if you have enough time and its location works with your gate. Remember that Terminal 4 walking distance still matters.
If you only have Priority Pass: Check the current Priority Pass listing for your terminal and compare participating lounges before walking across the airport.
Do these three checks before heading to a JFK lounge
Thirty seconds of checking can save a long airport walk or a denied entry.
Confirm access
Check the exact card, ticket, membership and guest rule you intend to use.
Confirm hours
Check that the lounge will be open when you actually arrive, not merely when your flight departs.
Check your gate
Know how long you need to leave the lounge, walk to your gate and be ready before boarding closes.
What AI and older JFK lounge guides often get wrong
JFK lounge information changes often enough that older articles, cached search results and AI-generated answers can mix current rules with outdated access policies. These are the mistakes we would check before relying on any JFK lounge recommendation.
“JFK only has five lounges.”
Incorrect. JFK has more lounge options than the five card-relevant lounges that appeared in some older comparisons.
Terminal 4 alone has multiple premium, airline and independent lounge options. This guide intentionally focuses on the lounges most relevant to premium credit-card and card-linked access rather than claiming to be a directory of every lounge at JFK.
The older “every JFK lounge” framing was too broad for the actual comparison. The current guide uses Best Credit Card Lounges at JFK because that accurately describes the decision being made.
“United Club in Terminal 7 is one of the five main JFK lounge choices.”
Do not rely on that as current JFK planning advice. Older lounge guides can preserve airline-terminal information long after airport operations change.
For this edition, we removed the former United Club / Terminal 7 recommendation from the core ranking rather than carrying forward a stale option simply because it appeared in the previous article.
If an airport lounge cannot be supported by current official airport, airline or issuer information, JetKonnect should remove it from the actionable ranking instead of presenting old information as current fact.
“Venture X still automatically gives every cardholder two free Capital One Lounge guests.”
That is outdated for 2026. The current Capital One guest structure means travelers should not assume that simply holding Venture X automatically gives them the old two-free-guest arrangement.
Eligible accounts that satisfy Capital One’s applicable annual-spend requirement can unlock complimentary guest privileges, while otherwise eligible guests may be subject to per-visit charges.
“Priority Pass cannot get you into a Chase Sapphire Lounge.”
Too broad. Priority Pass access at Sapphire Lounges depends on the membership and underlying card.
Eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Reserve for Business primary and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardmembers can use their qualifying Chase-issued Priority Pass Select membership for Sapphire Lounge access under the applicable Chase terms.
A Priority Pass membership issued through another card or source can have different Sapphire Lounge visit limits and guest rules.
Do not ask only, “Do you have Priority Pass?” Ask, “Which card or membership issued your Priority Pass?” That underlying membership can change your Sapphire Lounge access.
“Amex Platinum gives unlimited Delta Sky Club visits.”
Not under the standard current card-access structure. Eligible Amex Platinum cardmembers receive a limited annual Delta Sky Club visit allocation when the applicable same-day Delta travel requirements are satisfied.
| Card | Standard Visit Allocation | Can Unlimited Access Be Earned? |
|---|---|---|
| Amex Platinum | 10 visits per eligible card per Medallion year | Yes, when the applicable annual eligible-spend requirement is satisfied under current terms. |
| Delta SkyMiles Reserve | 15 visits per eligible card per Medallion year | Yes, when the applicable annual eligible-spend requirement is satisfied under current terms. |
The distinction matters for frequent Delta flyers. Using a limited Sky Club visit when you already have complimentary access to another strong Terminal 4 lounge may not always be the best use of the benefit.
“JFK Terminal 4 has one Delta Sky Club.”
Incorrect. Terminal 4 has separate Delta Sky Club locations serving the A and B sides of the terminal.
| Location | Area | Practical Use |
|---|---|---|
| Delta Sky Club near A8 | Concourse A | Natural starting point for eligible Delta travelers departing from A gates. |
| Delta Sky Club near B31 | Concourse B | Can save substantial backtracking for travelers departing deeper in B. |
“All the premium Terminal 4 lounges are in one lounge corridor.”
That description is too simplistic. The main Terminal 4 lounges in this guide occupy different parts of the terminal.
- Chase Sapphire Lounge: Level 4 near Gate A2.
- Delta Sky Club A: near Gate A8.
- Capital One Lounge: Level 3 Retail Hall near the B Gates.
- Delta Sky Club B: near Gate B31.
- Centurion Lounge: Level 4 after security.
- Delta One Lounge: between Concourses A and B adjacent to the main security checkpoint.
This is why the article repeatedly uses gate location as a decision factor instead of encouraging readers to blindly lounge-hop.
“The highest-ranked lounge is always the lounge you should use.”
No. Rankings need context. Chase is our overall #1 for many eligible Terminal 4 travelers, but that does not mean Chase wins every itinerary.
| Situation | Better Starting Choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 3:30 a.m. visit | Capital One Lounge | Chase is not open yet; Capital One operates 24 hours. |
| 11:30 p.m. visit | Capital One Lounge | Capital One’s operating schedule becomes decisive. |
| Eligible Delta traveler near B31 | Delta Sky Club B | Gate convenience can outweigh crossing Terminal 4. |
| Qualifying Delta One passenger | Delta One Lounge | Premium-cabin eligibility changes the comparison. |
| Solo Amex traveler already near Centurion | Centurion Lounge | There may be little reason to add walking simply to follow a generic ranking. |
The five things that actually determine your best JFK lounge
Most lounge comparisons over-focus on interiors and food. For actual airport planning, these five variables are usually more useful.
Your terminal
Start with your departure terminal. Crossing JFK terminals solely for a lounge can create unnecessary transportation and security risk.
Your access method
Credit card, airline ticket, membership and Priority Pass access are not interchangeable. Verify the exact benefit you intend to use.
Your flight time
A 24-hour lounge can beat a higher-ranked competitor when your departure falls outside normal lounge operating hours.
Your guests
A free solo visit can become an expensive family visit. Always compare the cost for your entire traveling party.
Your gate
Once you have several eligible Terminal 4 options, gate location can be more important than small differences in lounge quality.
Your usable lounge time
A premium lounge is only valuable while you can actually use it. Protect enough time to leave the lounge and reach your gate before boarding.
Our final Terminal 4 lounge decision matrix
| Priority | Our Starting Choice |
|---|---|
| Best overall during normal hours | Chase Sapphire Lounge |
| Best for overnight / unusual hours | Capital One Lounge |
| Best natural choice for solo Amex Platinum traveler | Centurion Lounge |
| Best for eligible Delta traveler near A8 | Delta Sky Club A |
| Best for eligible Delta traveler near B31 | Delta Sky Club B |
| Best for qualifying Delta One passenger | Delta One Lounge |
| Best when traveling with two guests | Check Chase first if your eligible access includes two complimentary guests |
| Best if every eligible lounge is busy | Choose the practical option nearest your gate rather than waiting indefinitely |
How this JFK lounge guide was researched
No firsthand JetKonnect visit was independently verified for this edition of the guide. We therefore do not present personal lounge impressions as firsthand experience.
Factual information such as lounge location, published hours, card eligibility, guest rules and visit limits is based on official airport, issuer and airline information reviewed for this edition.
Where this guide discusses practical preferences — such as whether one lounge may be more convenient than another, how crowding can affect the decision, or when lounge-hopping may not be worthwhile — those conclusions are editorial synthesis rather than claims of a firsthand 2026 visit.
Official sources control factual access information. Community reports can help identify patterns worth considering, but they do not override published issuer, airline or airport rules.
What traveler discussions can tell you — and what they cannot
Traveler discussions on communities such as Reddit and FlyerTalk can be useful for identifying recurring practical issues that official lounge pages rarely describe in detail.
Examples include reports about:
- how crowded a lounge can feel during particular departure banks;
- whether travelers encounter a wait at peak times;
- which Terminal 4 lounge they prefer when they can access several;
- how much gate location influences their real-world decision;
- whether lounge-hopping felt worthwhile during a specific connection.
We do not use anonymous community posts as authority for card benefits, official opening hours, guest fees or guaranteed access. Those facts should come from the relevant issuer, airline, airport or lounge operator.
This edition does not invent traveler quotes, Reddit usernames, FlyerTalk comments or firsthand anecdotes. When community discussion informs an editorial conclusion, it is described as a pattern rather than converted into a fictional testimonial.
What should you remember if you only read one section?
- Chase Sapphire is our overall #1 for many eligible Terminal 4 travelers during normal operating hours.
- Capital One can become #1 based on schedule alone because its JFK lounge currently operates 24 hours.
- Centurion remains a strong solo-traveler option for eligible Amex Platinum cardmembers, but guest fees can change the comparison.
- Delta has two regular Sky Clubs in Terminal 4, so choose based partly on whether your flight departs from the A or B side.
- Delta One Lounge is a separate premium product and should not be ranked as if normal credit-card possession automatically grants entry.
- Priority Pass rules depend on the membership source. Chase-issued Priority Pass can provide different Sapphire Lounge privileges from other Priority Pass memberships.
- Do not cross JFK terminals casually for a lounge. Transportation, security and walking can erase the benefit.
- Always verify access shortly before travel. Lounge hours, guest policies and network participation can change.
What if your first-choice JFK lounge does not work out?
Plan A — Chase Sapphire: If you qualify and the location works with your gate, this is our normal first choice during its operating hours.
Plan B — Capital One: Particularly strong when Chase is unavailable, your gate favors the B side, or your flight falls outside normal lounge hours.
Plan C — Centurion: A strong alternative for eligible Amex travelers, particularly solo travelers who will not incur guest fees.
Plan D — Delta Sky Club: For eligible Delta travelers, use the A8 or B31 location that best fits your departure gate and remaining card-based visit allocation.
Premium exception — Delta One: If your itinerary qualifies, evaluate Delta One Lounge before applying the normal credit-card ranking.
If none of those work: Check your terminal’s current Priority Pass, airline or paid-lounge options rather than changing JFK terminals without a clear time advantage.
The best JFK lounge is the best lounge for your actual flight
Ignore the temptation to maximize every card benefit on one airport visit. A good lounge choice should make your trip easier, not add stress before boarding.
Stay practical
Start in your departure terminal and prioritize lounges that fit your gate and schedule.
Protect your time
Leave enough time for walking, security when applicable and boarding. Lounge time should never consume your flight buffer.
Verify before travel
Recheck hours, access and guest rules close to departure because lounge policies can change after an article is published.
Frequently Asked Questions About JFK Airport Lounge Access
Quick answers to the most common questions about credit-card lounge access, Priority Pass, guest rules and Terminal 4 lounges at JFK.
What is the best lounge at JFK Airport?
For most eligible credit-card travelers in Terminal 4, JetKonnect ranks the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club as the best overall choice. It combines dining, showers, work and relaxation areas with a useful location near Gate A2 and favorable guest access for eligible Chase cardmembers.
However, the best lounge depends on your flight. Capital One can be the better choice for overnight or very early travel because its JFK lounge currently operates 24 hours. Eligible Delta One passengers should evaluate the Delta One Lounge separately because it uses a different premium-access model.
Which credit card gives the best JFK lounge access?
There is no single best card for every JFK traveler. Chase Sapphire Reserve is particularly useful for the Chase Sapphire Lounge and its current guest privileges. Capital One Venture X provides access to the Capital One Lounge, while eligible Amex Platinum cardmembers can use the Centurion Lounge and may also qualify for limited Delta Sky Club visits when traveling on an eligible Delta itinerary.
Your most valuable card depends on which airlines and terminals you use, whether you travel with guests, and how often you visit airports with the card’s lounge network.
Can I use Amex Platinum at JFK Airport lounges?
Yes. An eligible American Express Platinum Card can provide access to the JFK Centurion Lounge in Terminal 4 under the current Centurion Lounge terms.
Eligible Platinum cardmembers can also receive Delta Sky Club access when traveling on a qualifying same-day Delta itinerary and satisfying Delta’s current access requirements. Standard card-based Delta Sky Club access is subject to an annual visit allocation rather than automatically being unlimited.
Is there a 24-hour lounge at JFK Airport?
Yes. The Capital One Lounge in JFK Terminal 4 currently operates 24 hours. It is located on Level 3 in the Retail Hall near the B Gates.
This makes Capital One especially useful for eligible travelers with overnight connections, extremely early departures or late-night lounge visits after other premium credit-card lounges have closed.
Where is the Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK?
The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with Etihad Airways is located in JFK Terminal 4 on Level 4, above and near Gate A2. Its currently published hours are 5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m. daily, subject to change.
Can Priority Pass members use the Chase Sapphire Lounge at JFK?
Priority Pass access depends on how your membership was issued. Eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Reserve for Business primary and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardmembers can use qualifying Chase-issued Priority Pass Select access under Chase’s current Sapphire Lounge terms.
Priority Pass memberships issued through other cards or programs can have different complimentary-visit limits, guest rules and fees. Check the terms attached to your specific Priority Pass membership before visiting.
Can Priority Pass get me into the Centurion Lounge at JFK?
No. Priority Pass by itself is not an access method for the American Express Centurion Lounge. You need an eligible American Express card or another qualifying Centurion Lounge access method under the current Amex terms.
Can Priority Pass get me into the Capital One Lounge at JFK?
Do not use Priority Pass as your Capital One Lounge entry credential. Eligible Capital One cardholders should use the qualifying Capital One access method, such as their eligible physical card or digital lounge pass in the Capital One app.
Capital One Lounge access and Priority Pass are separate lounge benefits even when the same credit card provides both.
How many guests can I bring into the JFK Chase Sapphire Lounge?
Eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Reserve for Business primary and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardmembers can currently bring up to two guests at no additional charge per visit under the applicable Chase lounge terms.
Other Priority Pass members should not assume they receive the same guest benefit because their access terms can differ.
Does Venture X still include two free Capital One Lounge guests?
Do not assume the old automatic two-free-guest rule still applies. Capital One changed its lounge guest structure in 2026.
Eligible accounts that satisfy the applicable annual spending requirement can unlock complimentary guest privileges. Otherwise, guest charges can apply. Check your current Capital One account benefits before traveling because this can materially affect the value of a family or group lounge visit.
How much does a guest cost at the JFK Centurion Lounge?
Under the current applicable U.S. Platinum guest structure, an eligible cardmember who has not unlocked complimentary guest privileges generally pays $50 per adult guest and $30 for a child age 2–17 when the required proof of age is provided. Children under 2 can be admitted without a guest fee under the applicable terms.
Eligible U.S. Platinum accounts that meet the current qualifying annual purchase threshold can unlock complimentary access for up to two guests per visit.
Does JFK Terminal 4 have more than one Delta Sky Club?
Yes. Delta operates two regular Sky Clubs in Terminal 4: one near Gate A8 and another near Gate B31.
Eligible Delta travelers should normally start with the location that best fits their departure gate rather than crossing Terminal 4 solely to visit the other Sky Club.
How many Delta Sky Club visits does Amex Platinum include?
Under the current standard card-access structure, an eligible American Express Platinum Card receives 10 Delta Sky Club visits per eligible card per Medallion year, subject to Delta’s qualifying same-day travel and access requirements.
Eligible cardmembers who satisfy the applicable annual spending requirement can unlock unlimited visits under the current program terms.
How many Delta Sky Club visits does Delta Reserve include?
An eligible Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card receives 15 Delta Sky Club visits per eligible card per Medallion year under the current standard access structure, subject to the applicable Delta travel and access rules.
Eligible cardmembers can qualify for unlimited visits after satisfying Delta’s applicable annual spending requirement.
Is the Delta One Lounge the same as a Delta Sky Club?
No. The JFK Delta One Lounge is a separate premium lounge with a narrower access model centered on qualifying premium travel and other specifically eligible access categories.
Holding an Amex Platinum or Delta Reserve card can provide eligible access to regular Delta Sky Clubs, but the card by itself should not be treated as automatic admission to the Delta One Lounge.
Can I buy lounge access at JFK without a premium credit card?
Sometimes. Paid entry depends on the individual lounge and current capacity rules. Some JFK lounges participate in lounge networks, some can offer paid admission, and some are primarily restricted to qualifying cards, airline memberships, elite status or premium tickets.
Always verify the specific lounge before arriving rather than assuming every JFK lounge sells walk-up day passes.
Can I pay to enter the Capital One Lounge at JFK?
Capital One currently uses a paid-access structure at participating Capital One Lounge locations in addition to complimentary access for eligible cardholders. Standard visitor pricing can be substantially higher than eligible cardholder guest pricing.
Admission remains subject to the current Capital One terms and lounge capacity, so paid entry should not be treated as guaranteed.
Can I visit a lounge in another JFK terminal?
It can sometimes be possible, but JetKonnect does not recommend treating cross-terminal lounge visits as the default strategy at JFK. Changing terminals can require airport transportation, additional walking and another security screening.
If you consider doing it, protect a substantial time buffer and confirm that you can enter the other terminal before leaving your departure terminal.
How much time should I allow to change JFK terminals for a lounge?
JetKonnect recommends protecting roughly 45–60 minutes of additional planning buffer for a cross-terminal lounge trip rather than assuming a fast transfer. This is a conservative planning recommendation, not an official JFK transfer-time guarantee.
The actual time can vary because of walking, AirTrain timing, terminal navigation and security queues.
Is Chase Sapphire Lounge better than the Centurion Lounge at JFK?
JetKonnect ranks Chase Sapphire higher overall for many eligible Terminal 4 travelers, but that does not mean it is universally better. Chase’s current guest policy can be particularly attractive for eligible travelers with companions, while Centurion remains a strong choice for eligible Amex travelers.
If Centurion is closer to your route or your Amex access is simpler for the trip, there may be little reason to add extra walking simply because Chase ranks higher in this guide.
Which is better at JFK: Chase Sapphire or Capital One Lounge?
During normal operating hours, Chase Sapphire is our overall starting choice for most eligible travelers. Capital One becomes the better option when its 24-hour schedule, B-side location or your specific Capital One access makes it more practical.
For travelers with guests, compare the actual guest cost before deciding because Chase and Capital One use different current guest structures.

What “Officially Sourced” means on JetKonnect
For this guide, factual claims about lounge hours, locations, access methods, guest policies and card benefits are intended to be checked against current first-party information available for the October 2026 edition.
Where JetKonnect ranks lounges or recommends one option over another, that is editorial analysis based on those verified facts — not an official ranking from JFK, an airline or a credit-card issuer.
What this guide cannot guarantee
Airport lounge conditions can change after publication. A published opening time does not guarantee that a lounge will admit every eligible traveler at every moment.
- Capacity: Lounges can temporarily restrict entry when full.
- Hours: Operating schedules can change because of airline, airport or operational decisions.
- Card benefits: Issuers can modify lounge access, guest rules and annual visit limits.
- Priority Pass participation: Participating locations and access restrictions can change.
- Terminal access: Security and terminal procedures can affect whether a lounge is practical for your itinerary.
- Walking time: Your gate, mobility, crowd levels and airport conditions can materially affect travel time inside JFK.
Always check your issuer or airline app shortly before traveling if lounge access is important to your trip.
October 2026. JetKonnect uses a static review date on this guide. The date does not automatically change when a visitor opens the page.
This is intentional: an automatically changing “reviewed today” label could incorrectly imply that every lounge rule and benefit was reverified on that day.

Which premium card fits your JFK travel pattern?
If JFK is one of your main airports, do not choose a premium travel card based only on the annual fee or welcome offer. Compare which lounges you can realistically use, how often you travel with guests and whether the card’s lounge network matches your other airports.
About Hank Cai
Hank Cai writes JetKonnect’s travel rewards and airport lounge guides, with a focus on turning complicated credit-card access rules into practical airport decisions.
For lounge guides, JetKonnect separates issuer and airline rules from editorial recommendations so readers can see which information is officially sourced and which conclusions represent our analysis.
How JetKonnect reviews airport lounges
- Check official issuer and airline access rules.
- Verify lounge location and published operating hours.
- Separate complimentary access from paid guest access.
- Flag recent policy changes that can affect card value.
- Use community reports only for pattern-level context.
- Never fabricate firsthand visits or traveler quotes.
Practical travel-rewards research without hiding the tradeoffs
JetKonnect helps travelers compare airport lounge access, premium travel cards and travel benefits using a practical question: Will this benefit actually improve your trip?
That means a lounge with the strongest reputation does not automatically win. Hours, terminal, gate, guest policy and your actual access method can matter more than luxury branding.
Choose the lounge that makes your JFK trip easier
For many eligible Terminal 4 travelers, start with Chase Sapphire. Choose Capital One when its 24-hour schedule or B-side location works better. Use Centurion when your Amex access and itinerary make it the practical choice. If you are flying Delta, compare the A8 and B31 Sky Clubs based on your gate — and check Delta One Lounge eligibility first when you are traveling on a qualifying premium itinerary.
The goal is not to visit the greatest number of lounges. It is to get a useful meal, a comfortable place to wait and enough time to reach your flight without turning a lounge benefit into airport stress.
